The internal switches are bidirectional, support voltages between ground and VCC, have low “on” resistance and low “off” leakage, and to prevent crosstalk, perform “break-before-make” switching. By using multiple boards, you can create similar arrangements for I2C, SPI, etc. If you want two-way communications, you can add a second board to route your microcontroller’s TX line to 16 device’s RX lines. You can then select any one of those 16 devices to listen to. For example, you could use it to connect the TX pins of 16 devices to one RX pin on your microcontroller. Since the mux/demux also works with digital signals, you can use it to pipe TTL-level serial data to or from multiple devices. This allows you to connect up to 16 sensors to your system using only 5 pins! To control it, connect 4 digital outputs to the chip’s address select pins (S0-S3), and send it the binary address of the channel you want (see the datasheet for details). It works with both digital and analog signals (the voltage can’t be higher than VCC), and the connections function in either direction. This chip is like a rotary switch - it internally routes the common pin (COM in the schematic, SIG on the board) to one of 16 channel pins (CHANxx). In this way I stopped having those random volt measurements. Firstly, I pulled down the Signal with a 10K resistor. There was a cabling and a software issue as well. I finally managed to get a solution to my problem. I measure volts between signal and ground at the capacitive touch pad, when touched i get 3.9v When i touch the pad (connected to c0) i get: press any key to continue. When nothing is touched/pressed, i get the following: press any key to continue. I got hold of a new CD74HC4067 and connected just one capacitive touch pad. Unless there is another suggestion I will look for a couple of these (CD74HC4067) as soon as possible. The problem is that I can't test another CD74HC4067 since i have only one right now. I think that there must be some kind of short circuit somewhere but it is not visible. But the strange thing is that when i touch the ttp's I measure 2.xx Volts at all the mux channels. When ttp's are touched TTP_SIGNAL to GND i measure a 3.94-3.88v. When the system is resting I measure 4.93V at the ttp's Vs to GND and 0V TTP_SIGNAL to GND. Is there a need for a pullup or pulldown resistors in this setup? Should I connect a resistor to each S0-S3 with ground? Why is this not working? Īnd I get no HIGH on channel 12 as I should. The iconic toy has its roots in a similar-looking but differently regarded German doll: Bild Lilli, which Lord describes as a highly sexualized and lurid gag gift for men (that eventually became popular with children), based on an off-color tabloid comic strip. The rise of Barbie - and the feminist movementĪP Astronaut Barbie dolls (from left) from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s on display at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in 1995. "I think that may be the secret to why she's endured so long: That she weathers the projections and the conflicting projections of so many people." And people who irrationally adore this hunk of plastic are also puzzling to me," Lord says. "People who hate Barbie for one reason or another, one might say that they project their fears and prejudices onto the doll. Instead, she sees the doll as its own sort of Rorschach test. While Lord says the new movie is "incredibly feminist," she hesitates to apply that word to Barbie herself. In 1972, feminist groups gathered outside a toy fair to protest dolls that they said "perpetuated sexual stereotypes by encouraging little girls to see themselves solely as manniquins, sex objects or housekeepers." Decades later, in 2013, topless women's rights activists protested the opening of a life-size Barbie Dreamhouse in Berlin, burning a doll on a cross and chanting "pink stinks." There have also been protests focused on Barbie's embrace of traditional gender norms. Studies have linked playing with ultra-thin dolls to negative body image and increased risk of eating disorders in children. Much of it has focused on the dolls' unrealistic body image: Researchers have found that if Barbie were a real person, she would have to walk on all four because of her proportions. Ruth Handler co-founded Mattel and created the doll - which has held over 200 jobs, from astronaut to executive to president - to show girls like her own daughter that they could be anything.īut Handler would not describe herself as a feminist, says Lord, who once asked her that directly.Īnd Barbie has faced plenty of backlash over the years. "It's almost shocking, in a way, to see such a powerful message in a highly stylized, campy movie with all that pink," she tells Morning Edition's Leila Fadel.Īnd the film has stoked strong emotions, both from fans who feel seen by its takedown of the patriarchy and critics who have slammed it as overly woke (including conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, who set fire to two dolls in a widely panned protest).ĭirector Greta Gerwig, who has built a devoted following for such female-forward movies as Lady Bird and Little Women, has labeled Barbie "most certainly a feminist film." Mattel executives, on the other hand, have said the opposite.įittingly, the Barbie doll itself has been at the center of such a debate pretty much since its debut in 1959. Lord, the author of Forever Barbie: The Unauthorized Biography of a Real Doll and co-host of the new Barbie podcast LA Made: The Barbie Tapes, describes it as an angry movie made palatable through the lens of childhood products. That's painted in stark contrast to the "real world," of course. Specifically, it has many asking: Has a doll long criticized for perpetuating outdated gender norms and unrealistic body image become a feminist icon? Has she always been one?įor context: The movie takes place largely in Barbieland, a candy-colored, women-centered utopia where Barbies hold the positions of power (all of the jobs, really, except for "beach") and Kens are essentially peripheral. The Barbie movie has smashed box-office records, brought dress-up back and put feminism in the spotlight. 9/14/2023 0 Comments Terry reilly homedale clinicSeveral federal grants began our involvement in teen pregnancy, both its prevention and care of pregnant teens. At this point, you can use the sheets as directed for the various fresh pasta recipes that follow. On some pasta machines this will mean the thinnest setting on others it may be the second thinnest. Whatever works best for you.įor most pastas, you want to roll the dough until it’s very thin like a silk scarf if you hold it up to the light you can see your hand through it. Or you can cut long shorter lengths with a sharp knife and run each piece through the setting. With an electric (as opposed to hand cranked) pasta machine, you can stand pretty far away and gather the dough as it comes out of the machine, gently folding it over onto itself, so it looks like ribbon candy. If your dough sticks, you can flour it well without worry the dough will not incorporate too much flour at this point.Īs the length of the dough increases, you may find it a little unwieldy. If you run the dough through the machine and it shreds or tears or is too thin, simply fold it over and run it through a wider setting to smooth it out. Continue running the dough through the machine’s settings so that the dough gets progressively thinner each time you don’t have to hit every setting on the dial as is so often insisted, but do thin the dough gradually. Set the machine to its next thinnest setting and run the dough through. Run the dough through the machine at this setting twice to give the dough a final kneading. Roll the dough lightly in flour and then flatten it into a rectangle that is roughly the width of your pasta machine. Cut the dough in half and keep the rest wrapped while you work (some of the recipes calling for fresh pasta only need a half batch of dough). To thin the dough, set your pasta machine to its widest setting. Sprinkle the dough with a little flour, wrap it in plastic or a cloth, and let it rest for a half hour before rolling it. Continue kneading, adding a sprinkling of flour if the dough feels sticky, until it feels as soft and supple as your ear lobe this can take 5 to 8 minutes. Lightly re-flour the surface and knead the dough by pushing it away from you with the heel of your hand, folding it over, giving it a quarter turn, and pushing it away again. Move the dough over to one side and scrape your work area clean of any excess flour, especially any hardened bits, and then clean your hands as well. If not, work in a little more flour now or, if it feels close, as you knead the dough. If nothing sticks to your finger, your dough is in good shape. To see if you have added enough flour, press a clean, dry finger deep into the dough. You may not need to use all of the flour, and the actual amount you use will vary every time you make fresh pasta depending on your eggs, flour, and even the weather. When the dough becomes too stiff to mix with a fork, use your fingers to work the eggs and flour together, only adding enough of the flour to make a cohesive ball of dough. Be careful not to break through the wall of the well or the egg will race out all over the counter, a total bummer. Very gradually, incorporate some of the flour into the eggs by bringing in a little at a time from the perimeter of the well. Beat the eggs with a fork just as you would to make scrambled eggs. Crack the whole eggs into the center of the well and add the yolks. Use your fist and a circular motion to transform the mound into a wide well. If it’s not already in a small mound, gather it into one. Combine the flour and the salt on a clean work surface. 9/14/2023 0 Comments Does schick test on animalsFor example, animals in a more positive affective state tend to interpret ambiguous cues in a more positive way. Interpretation bias in animal research is often measured using the judgment bias test (JBT) ( Nguyen et al., 2020), which relies on certain behaviors (like bar-pressing) and these results are then interpreted with respect to certain human constructs, one of them being “attitude” (see more details in Table 1). Individuals are more likely to interpret ambiguous cues to be consistent with their current affective state ( Everaert, 2021). Interpretation bias affects decision-making processes. In animal research, attentional bias can be investigated by analyzing the behavioral response to threatening stimuli ( Lee et al., 2016 Luo et al., 2019). Attentional bias indicates that individuals are more likely to allocate attention to stimuli consistent with their current emotional state ( Mennen et al., 2019). According to Bower’s theory of mood congruity ( Bower, 1981), during cognitive processing, individuals tend to focus, process, and recall information that is consistent with their emotional state, resulting in cognitive biases.Ĭognitive biases can be divided into three types: attentional bias, interpretation bias, and memory bias. Based on Beck’s theory, early adverse experiences can trigger negative cognitive schemas leading to negative views of the self, the world, and the future, which in turn lead to biases in cognitive processing ( Segal, 1988). The concept of “cognitive bias” was first proposed by Beck in the study of patients with depression ( Beck, 1967). The phenomenon of cognitive bias is widespread, especially in neuropsychiatric disorders. Positive emotions lead to positive cognitive biases, while negative emotions cause negative biases, affecting multiple cognitive processes such as attention, memory, and decision-making ( Everaert et al., 2012). Cognitive bias is the tendency of the brain to process information in favor of certain emotional valence ( Lovibond and Lovibond, 1995). We also discussed its critical value in the identification of neuropsychiatric disorders and the validation of therapeutic approaches.Įmotions can cause the brain to distort the truth, leading to a discrepancy between what we believe is true and reality. In this mini-review, we summarize the application of cognitive bias tests in animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and pain. Moreover, it also can be used in early drug screening to effectively assess the potential effects or side effects of drugs on affective state prior to clinical trials. Therefore, it has great potential to become an important tool to measure the influence of neuropsychiatric disorder-associated emotions on cognitive processing. Some studies have found that cognitive bias test is more sensitive than traditional test methods such as forced swimming test and sucrose preference test in detecting emotional state. In recent years, its effectiveness in animal research related to neuropsychiatric disorders has been widely verified. In animal studies, the existing methods for detecting animal emotional state are still relatively limited, and cognitive bias test has gradually become an important supplement. 2Department of Psychology, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, ChinaĬognitive biases can arise from cognitive processing under affective states and reflect the impact of emotion on cognition.1CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.THANK YOU.Yu-Han Zhang 1,2 Ning Wang 1,2* Xiao-Xiao Lin 1,2 Jin-Yan Wang 1,2 Fei Luo 1,2 PLEASE SHARE THESE IMAGES!
